Dear 5th Grade Parents,
On Wednesday, June 12th, your 5th-grade scholar will present their Social Justice Project (SJP) Capstone at 6:00 pm. The SJP Capstone is a research-based project highlighting a current social justice issue.
There are two components to the project:
1) A powerpoint presentation highlighting a topic, a thesis, an analysis of the situation, and a call to action.
2) An oral presentation: June 12th at 6:00 pm of the scholar’s findings. Scholars have made their selection on what topic they are going to do and cannot change their minds. They will be working on research and creating their projects in Ms. Perales’ and Ms. Lyons’ classes. Scholars will learn the necessary content in the coming weeks. The building of the project will be towards the latter part of May. This project is mandatory for all 5th-grade scholars. If your scholar is returning to Capital Prep, they must complete and present this project to participate in the Grays-to-Blues Continuation Ceremony.
Parents can support in many ways:
Thank you for your cooperation and attention to this.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
This letter is regarding the fifth-grade ceremony.
Our fifth-grade class will have a ceremony where all our students will be acknowledged and welcome to Middle School.
This ceremony is for students who are returning to Capital Prep Harbor. If you would like your child to participate in the ceremony, 5th graders must purchase a blue vest for $30 from the uniform company. Harbor Lower School held a fitting on Saturday, April 13th. If you did not attend the fitting, please purchase the blue vest directly from uniform company.
***NOTE if your 5th-grade child is returning to CPHS and participating in the ceremony they must have a blue vest (5th grade).
The Grays-to-Blues Continuation Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 18th – 1:30 at Harbor Lower School. Please mark your calendars.
We will be distributing tickets and invitations for the ceremony at the end of May during lunch/advisory. Due to limited seating, additional guests cannot enter without a ticket. Each student will be allocated 3 tickets for admission.
We look forward to seeing you on this day!
